Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-13
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy applies to the Slipd mobile application ("Application") created by Samith Chowdhury ("Service Provider"). Slipd is an offline-first invoicing and estimate management app. All data you create is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to any server operated by the Service Provider.
2. What Data We Handle
The Application does not require an account, registration, or any personal information to download or use. The only data we handle is what you explicitly enter into the app:
- Business profile: name, address, email, phone, website, tax number, payment details, and logo image
- Client records: name, email, phone, and address
- Invoices and estimates: line items, amounts, dates, notes, and payment status
- App preferences: theme, accent colour, selected business profile, and backup or rating settings
We do not collect location data, phone contacts, analytics, advertising identifiers, biometric data, call or SMS history, or device identifiers. We do not access your media gallery except when you explicitly pick a logo image using your device's file picker.
3. Where Your Data Is Stored
All data lives exclusively on your Android device. Invoices, estimates, clients, and business profiles are stored in a local SQLite database. App preferences are stored in Jetpack DataStore. Logo images are saved in the app's internal storage. Any PDFs you generate or CSVs you export are saved to your device's Downloads folder and are accessible through your Files app.
We do not operate cloud servers, backup services, or any external database. Nothing is synced or uploaded by us.
4. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used solely to run the Application on your device: displaying invoices and client records, calculating totals and taxes, generating PDF files, recording payments, and enabling JSON or CSV exports for your own records. We do not sell or share your data. We do not use it for marketing, analytics, profiling, or to train AI models.
5. Internet Activity
The only network request Slipd makes is a silent version check on app launch. This sends your app version and API key to check whether an update is available. No personal data, invoice content, or client information is included. If you are offline, this check does not occur. You can also revoke internet access for the Application entirely via Android Settings → Apps → Slipd → Permissions.
When you share a PDF through Slipd, your device's operating system handles the transfer. We do not process or retain anything during that action. The in-app feedback link opens a standard mailto link in your email client — no analytics are attached and we do not pre-populate or track anything.
6. Permissions
Slipd requests the following permissions:
- Camera: Used only when you open the barcode scanner to look up a line item. A live preview is shown; no photos are saved.
- Internet: Used only for the version check described above. No personal data is transmitted.
- Post Notifications: Used to deliver due date reminders and overdue invoice alerts on your device. No data is sent externally.
We do not request access to your contacts, location, call log, SMS, microphone, or general external storage. For writing exports to the Downloads folder we use the MediaStore API, which does not require broad storage permission on Android 10 and above.
7. Third-Party Libraries
Slipd uses open-source libraries that run entirely on your device: Jetpack Compose (UI framework), Room (local database), iText7 (PDF generation), Hilt (dependency injection), Kotlin Coroutines (async operations), CameraX with ML Kit (barcode scanning), and WorkManager (background scheduling). None of these libraries transmit data to third parties. We do not include any analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs.
8. Data Deletion
You own your data and can delete it at any time without contacting us. See the Delete Your Data page for full instructions. Because we have no servers, clearing the app's data or uninstalling it removes everything immediately and permanently.
9. Children's Privacy
The Application is designed for adults — freelancers and small business owners. We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has used the Application, please contact us at hello@iamsamith.com.
10. Security
Because the Application transmits no sensitive data and operates no servers, there is no server-side security risk. Your data is as secure as your Android device. Android's built-in SQLite encryption protects the local database. We recommend enabling a device lock screen and taking regular JSON backups using the app's export feature.
11. GDPR and Privacy Regulations
Slipd is designed to be compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and similar privacy regulations by architecture rather than policy. We process no personal data on servers, so there is no data transfer, no retention obligation, and no need to request deletion from us. You can access your data in-app or via export at any time, delete it instantly, and export it for portability. You can withdraw any permission via Android Settings at any time.
12. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if our practices change. The Service Provider will update this page and the effective date at the top. Continued use of the Application after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We may also note changes in the app's update changelog.
13. Contact
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, please contact the Service Provider at hello@iamsamith.com. We aim to respond within 24 hours.
